AMI’s VT tracking devices now feature integrated Bluetooth technology incorporating wireless and watertight sensors, meaning that customers can now retrieve vital information from Bluetooth sensors without the need of a wired connection. This makes them ideal for wireless monitoring of construction plant equipment where it is important to monitor factors such as fluid and temperature levels.
The VT systems are designed to be used as an asset management tool to allow organisations to have complete visibility and control over equipment or vehicle fleets - whether it be to monitor the actual whereabouts of equipment in real-time, or to generate servicing, maintenance and other reminders such as MOT deadlines. With a full reporting suite of information available, users can access GPS positional information, monitor speed violations and set up virtual geofence boundaries.
With the ability to remotely immobilise machines alongside timed and driver ID immobilisation, a series of reports can be generated to offer return on investment and help save time, money and administrative hours. 100% of stolen equipment with a covertly installed AMI tracking device has been successfully recovered, against an average industry recovery rate of less than 10%.
AMI Group has also made a number of enhancements to the AMI Nexis app which is accessible from the App or Google Store and can be used with all iOS and Android devices. Developed by AMI’s internal programming team, the app is available for use by AMI customers who have any AMI equipment tracking device fitted to plant machinery, vehicles or other assets. The app is already being used by the majority of AMI Group customers who have reported excellent feedback regarding the increased visibility of plant equipment fleets and a significant reduction in administrative hours.
AMI Group Operations Director Peter Stockton said: “The app is essentially intended to be a mobile version of our AMI Nexis web-based software portal for use by customers when they are on the go. It has been very well received by our customer base and makes it easier than ever before to track equipment in the event that it has been stolen, or to set up a range of alerts or reports. For example, machine utilisation can be compared with the customer’s weekly working hours. Customers don’t need to wait until they are at a computer to access a wide range of functionality - they immediately have the information at their fingertips from their mobile phone or any other mobile device.
“It allows our customers to have an instant overview of their equipment at a glance 24/7 - whether this be its location, usage or when it last reported its status. Since the app was first launched last year, we’ve made a number of enhancements. For instance, we’ve introduced an enhanced list view which allows customers to view a full running list of equipment rather than a page-by-page view. This can save our customers a huge amount of time and allow them to be even more productive,” he continued.
Using the app, AMI customers can track equipment using Google mapping, immobilise equipment and set up a series of alerts via e-mail or text. Geofence alerts can also be set up within seconds, so if equipment moves outside a given area, the customer is immediately alerted.
AMI Group’s state-of-the-art tracking devices are covertly installed on plant machinery such as excavators, generators and compressors to provide the ultimate in anti-theft protection. Developed using advanced GPS (Global Positioning System), GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications), RF (Radio Frequency) and battery powered technology, customers can logon to the AMI Nexis web-based portal or access the app to establish the destination of plant equipment in the event of it being stolen.
